CPPAs allow businesses to purchase electricity directly from wind and solar farms. Flogas can support businesses through the entire PPA value chain, from inception and early education through to identifying renewable project partners and contracting (“PPA Sleeving”).

In a landmark achievement for Ireland’s green energy transition, Flogas became the first company to supply renewable gas from the national grid in 2020. This milestone marks a significant step towards decarbonising Ireland’s energy landscape, offering customers a sustainable alternative without compromising convenience. This renewable gas, also known as biomethane, is seamlessly integrated into existing infrastructure, powering homes and businesses through familiar heating systems and appliances. Generated from organic matter like food waste and agricultural byproducts through a process called anaerobic digestion, biomethane embodies a circular economy, transforming waste into a valuable energy source.

Driving Sustainable Transport Solutions with Bio-CNG

Flogas is also pioneering the use of Bio-CNG (a compressed version of biomethane) to decarbonise heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). As the only Bio-CNG supplier approved under the Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme in Ireland, Flogas ensures a transparent and traceable supply chain.

Flogas recently opened Ireland’s first dedicated Bio-CNG refuelling station using biomethane and this station is being expanded due to high demand. Flogas also supplies biomethane to Circle K supporting their CNG pumps nationwide, demonstrating its commitment to a greener transport future.
